Qatar (IP)- Playing a breath-taking game, Iran's Team Melli came victorious against Japan's team 2-1, on Saturday afternoon, in the 2023 AFC Cup underway in Qatar.

Iran Press/ West Asia: Passing over Syria 6-5 in the Penalty kicks in its previous match, Iran faced Japan today, February 3, in a game that was expected to be finished in favor of the Japanese team when Hidmasa Morita scored the first goal in the 28th minute of the match. 

Yet, the Japanese cheer lasted no more in the second half and Mohammad Mohebbi scored the first goal for Iran in the 55th minute out of Sardar Azmoon's pass. 

The pressure then continued on the Japanese gate, as within the last minutes of the match in the extra time, 90+6, a penalty kick was achieved by Iran for the fault that occurred on Kanaanizadegan; Alireza Jahanbaksh, the Captain, scored the victory goal for Iran. 

Now, Iran's Team Melli is awaiting to see the result of the Qatar-Uzbekistan match, to face its rival in the semi-finals.
