Tehran (IP) - 20 countries have officially announced their participation in the upcoming Asian Snooker Championship, set to take place in Iran.

Iran PressIran News: The tournament will feature three divisions: 6 Reds, team, and under 21 years.

Following the registration deadline, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Syria, India, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, the UAE, Kuwait, Palestine, Iraq, Mongolia, Afghanistan, Thailand, and Myanmar have all confirmed their participation alongside Hong Kong and the host country Iran. The Asian Snooker Championship is scheduled to run from June 17th to June 25th in Tehran.

This is the fourth time that the Bowling, Billiard & Boules Federation of I.R.Iran (BBFIR) hosts the Asian and World Championship.

The Championship dates are 16th to 25th June 2023 as per the following schedule: For Teams and Under 21 Snooker Championship: Referees, Players, and Delegates meeting on 16th June at 19.00 in the hotel. The competition starts on 17th June at 10.00 AM with the final to be played on 21st June 2023 for 6-Red Snooker Championships: Referees, Players, and Delegates meetings on 21st June at 19.00 Competitions start on the 22nd day of June at 10.00 a.m. with the final to be played on June 25th, 2023.

Each country is allowed to register three players for the 6 Reds, one team with a minimum of two players and a maximum of three players per team. 

As a professional sport, snooker is now governed by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association. The World Snooker Championship first took place in 1927. Joe Davis, a key figure and pioneer in the early growth of the sport, won fifteen successive world championships between 1927 and 1946.
