1 killed in Baghdad bombings

One person was killed and 18 injured after three explosions in Iraqi capital's downtown on Friday evening, according to the Information Center of Joint Headquarters of Iraq.

Iran Press/Middle East: Local media and eyewitnesses reported of smoke columns and said ambulance sirens were heard after bombs went off around Tahrir (liberation) Square in Baghdad.

In a separate incident, a bomb blast in the Iraqi city of Naseriyeh reportedly wounded 11 people.

The explosions on Friday came after a lull in days of unrest which led to clashes between police and protesters.

The government in Baghdad has promised electoral reforms calling for a return to normal life.
