Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that Pakistani officials have promised to introduce more measures for the release of Iranian border guards.

Iran Press/Iran News: Touching upon his recent visit to Islamabad, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif noted on Monday that Pakistan has also promised to bring good news for Iranian nation in this regard, Mehr News Agency reported.

Iranian Foreign Minister went on to say that in his trip to Pakistan, the two sides have agreed to prevent hostile acts along the common borders in the long run through increasing border cooperation.

Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are now pursuing the implementation of those agreements, Zarif added.

On Oct. 16, the IRGC confirmed that 14 Basij (volunteers) and border guards were kidnapped by a terrorist group on Tuesday morning.

On Oct. 31, Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif said, "Pakistan is using all means at its disposal, to secure the release of the abducted border guards."

On October 16, Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said Iran is ready for joint operations with the Pakistani army to secure the release of border guards who have been kidnapped on the Iranian side of the border with Pakistan.

The incident happened about 50 kilometers from the town of MirJaveh in Balouchestan of southeastern Iran, very close to the border with Pakistan.

The IRGC is tasked with protecting the country’s northwestern and southeastern borders.

Tehran has frequently asked the two neighbouring countries to step up security at the common border to prevent terrorist attacks on Iranian forces.

Pakistan-based Jeish al-Adl terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the abductions.
