People across Iran, including the capital Tehran, observe Arbaeen by participating in a 13-kilometer walk from Imam Hussain Square to the shrine of Abd al-Azim al-Hasani, emulating the spiritual journey from Najaf to Karbala.

Iran Press/Iran News:  This symbolic journey is part of a broader effort by those unable to attend the Arbaeen pilgrimage in Karbala to share in the spiritual experience.

The procession began at 5:30 AM with the recitation of Ziyarat Arbaeen at Imam Hussain Square, followed by the start of the walk at 6:00 AM.

The event, which has become an annual tradition, reflects the deep connection and commitment of the participants to the values upheld by Imam Hussain (A.S.).

To accommodate the large number of participants, six additional routes were established, originating from various points including Varamin, Qarchak, Baqershahr, Kahrizak, the northern and southern sections of Shahid Rajai Highway, Salman Farsi, and Chahar-Dangeh. Along these routes, over 2,000 community-organized service stations (Mawkibs) provided food, water, and other amenities to the mourners.

This year, the event was marked by the involvement of 110 cultural and artistic centers across Tehran, which hosted Ta'zieh performances (traditional passion plays), brief sermons, Quran recitations, and communal prayers.

Additionally, special facilities were set up for children, mothers with infants, and 50 dedicated booths focused on narrating the resistance of the people of Gaza and exposing the atrocities committed by the Israeli Zionist regime.

The Arbaeen procession in Tehran serves as a powerful expression of faith and solidarity, mirroring the global observance of Arbaeen by millions of Shia Muslims. It underscores the enduring impact of Imam Hussain’s (A.S.) sacrifice and the collective resolve to uphold justice and resist oppression.

Arbaeen commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S.), the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who was martyred in the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE.

Observed 40 days after Ashura, it is one of the largest annual gatherings in the world, symbolizing the values of sacrifice, justice, and standing against oppression. The pilgrimage to Karbala serves as a reminder of the struggle for justice and the importance of faith in the face of adversity.
