Kazakh ambassador to Tehran: Iran's membership in SCO; very effective

Tehran (IP): Kazakhstan's ambassador to Tehran said that Iran's membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) would be very effective and useful for the member states.

Iran PressIran news: Referring to Iran's membership in the SCO and synergy of the regional countries, Kazakh Ambassador to Iran Askhat Orazbay said on Monday: "Iran's membership in the SCO will benefit the entire region; Iran is a strong country economically, and Iran's presence in trade and economic cooperation and programs in the SCO area will be very effective and will be beneficial for all countries and Iran itself due to the large number of the organization's members."

Referring to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in Kazakhstan next month, Orazbay said: "There is a mechanism in the SCO that the meeting of the presidents of the SCO is held once a year in the country that holds the rotating presidency."

The Kazakh ambassador to Iran clarified the level of trade relations between Iran and Kazakhstan, saying: "There are two main problems, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the embargo on trade between the two countries, but despite these obstacles, our trade with Iran is increasing on a daily basis."

Referring to US unilateral sanctions against Iran, Orazbay said: "Sanctions have affected trade exchanges. However, we can exchange some goods, such as agricultural products, while establishing sports, cultural and political relations with Iran."
