In a ceremonial event on Sunday attended by Iranian and foreign dignitaries, the largest flag in Iran was raised in Tehran's cultural hub to mark the anniversary of the 1979 Revolution.

Iran PressIran news:  After the glorious victory of the Islamic Revolution under the leadership of Imam Khomeini (RA), in April 1358 (1979), the referendum of the Islamic Republic was held throughout Iran.

According to the results of the referendum, which was announced on Farvardin 12, 1358 AH (April 1, 1979), more than 98 percent of those eligible to participate in the referendum agreed with the establishment of the Islamic Republic.

On the occasion, the 12th day of Farvardin is called the day of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Iranian calendar.

The flag hoisted on the western part of the Sacred Defence Garden Museum in the Abbasabad complex, stood at an impressive height of 210 meters on a 147-meter flagpole known as the "flag tower," situated atop the highest hill of the complex.

During the event, Iranian Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, Ezzatolah Zarghami emphasized Iran's strength as a nation and its support for oppressed people, particularly Gazans and Palestinians.He highlighted the significance of the country's flag as a symbol of civilization and identity, stating that Iran has been resilient against adversaries seeking to undermine it for an extended period.

Established in 2012, the monumental flag tower in the Abbasabad complex serves as a representation of national pride for Iranians, showcasing their enduring spirit and commitment to their heritage.
