IP - Juliette Touma, the UN Palestinian Refugee Agency (UNRWA) spokesperson, announced that "today is a 'global day of mourning' as the UN remembers its members who were killed in the war.

Iran PressWest Asia: More than 100 UNRWA workers have died since October 7.

Touma said that given the Gaza siege and the war, UNRWA is being hit “from different directions” as close to 800,000 people take shelter at UN facilities, which are also coming under attack.

“More than 60 facilities have been impacted, Most recently one of our guest houses where we have staff sleeping and staying in the Gaza Strip received three direct hits yesterday morning and we were very very lucky because it was just an hour and a half after our staff left,” Touma said.

“Seventy percent of those facilities that were impacted happened to the south of Wadi Gaza, so in the middle area or in areas like Khan Younis and Rafah in the south. But it’s an indication that nowhere in Gaza, nowhere is safe. Not the north, not the middle, and not even the southern areas,” she added.

No operational Hospital in Gaza

The routine functioning of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the central Gaza Strip lies in sharp contrast to the chaos of weeks of Israeli bombardment, which in recent days has targeted several hospitals in the besieged enclave.

Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital staff warns that patients’ next transfer will be to mass graves if Israeli aggression continues.

In Al-Shifa hospitals, About 650 patients, 500 healthcare workers, and an estimated 2,500 displaced people remain inside the besieged hospital compound, says Mohammed Zaqout, director of hospitals in Gaza.

Those inside report being pinned down by Israeli sniper fire. Israel says it offered safe passage to those wanting to leave.
