Iran Press/ Europe: The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday that the telephone conversation between Lavrov and Cavusoglu was initiated by the Turkish side's initiative, during which the two sides discussed the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict area after the Moscow trilateral talks on October 9 and 10 and they exchanged views.
Moscow trilateral talks were held among the Foreign Ministers of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, Sergei Lavrov, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, and the Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jihun Bayramov, and the three sides declared a ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh in a statement issued.
"In a telephone conversation between Lavrov and Cavusoglu, the need for full implementation of all the provisions of the joint statement of the Foreign Ministers of Russia, Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan was stressed," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Lavrov stressed Russia's readiness to continue mediation efforts to find a solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, according to the Moscow statement.
During lengthy talks that ended in Moscow on Saturday morning (October 10th), the two sides agreed on a ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh from 12:00 noon on Saturday (October 10th).
The situation in the region has been tense since September 27, with Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan accusing each other of starting the war.
The Republic of Azerbaijan has called for an end to the occupation of Armenia, relying on the principle of preserving its territorial integrity, and on the other hand, the Armenian side has called for the recognition of Armenian rights, citing the principle of the "right to self-determination."
