Iran, Armenia underline development of bilateral ties

Iranian parliament Speaker and his Armenian counterpart in a meeting on Monday underlined development of their mutual relations in all fields.

Iran Press/Middle East: Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani met with President of the National Assembly of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan on the sidelines of 140th Ordinary General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and its related meetings, held in Doha, Qatar.

During the meeting, the Iranian parliament speaker stressed the necessity of paying attention to the pollution of Aras River. Larijani referred to the high-level relations between Iran and Armenia and called for promotion of two countries' cooperation in all fields, Iran Press reported.

The Iranian people have always had a positive view on Armenia and this should be promoted, he added.

In the meantime, the Armenian parliament speaker, for his part, underlined development of cooperation between the two countries, in particular, in the field of economy. Iran and Armenia have lots of capacities for improvement of their mutual cooperation, he added.

The official described the Iranian and Armenian friendship as everlasting and noted that nothing can damage two countries' good relations.

Despite religious differences, relations between Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran remain cordial and Armenia and Iran are strategic partners in the region.
