Rouhani: Iran able to change sanctions into opportunity

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Thursday that the Islamic Republic of Iran through a sound management will be able to change sanctions into opportunity to tie Iran-Turkey economy.

Iran PressAsia: Stressing that Iran is ready to provide Turkey with energy in the long term, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani once again described US sanctions against Iran unjust, saying: “No power, except international regulations and interests of peoples, should affect our economic relations”.

Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian businessmen in Turkey, Iran Press reported.

'Iran is ready to meet Turkey's energy demands in long term while once again described the US economic sanctions against the country as rough and unfair,' Iranian President added.

Rouhani said that only the international rules and regulations and nations' interests should be of prime importance and no other power in the world should be able to leave 'impact on our economy as we are able through sound management to change all threats into opportunity' to bring the two sides economies much closer. 

“We should go towards free trade from preferential trade,” Iranian President Hassan Rouhani continued, saying: “We are ready to support and provide the necessary conditions for the presence of Turkish investors in the Iranian energy market”.

Rouhani also said: “Presence of the Presidents of the two countries in the meeting of the private sectors indicates that cooperation between the businesspeople of the two countries is highly supported."

He continued: “Iran and Turkey are two secure countries in the region that have taken great steps in combatting terrorism and establishing peace and development.”

Stating that, “Our security is dependent upon the other’s,” Rouhani added: “Economic activity is not possible without security, support and financial aid”.

He also went on to say: “Formation of joint industrial parks transforms economic relations and development of industries in the two countries”.

“The possibility of connecting east and west transit routes is one of the most important strategic advantages of Iran and Turkey,” said the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“Free trade zones can play a role in deepening Iran-Turkey relations,” Rouhani concluded.
