Palestinian protesters once again gathered at the border fence with Israel on Friday to take part in rallies along the border fence.

After taking part in Friday prayers,  large numbers of Palestinians, mostly young people, gathered at the border fence on Friday , defying warnings from the Israeli army to keep away from the fence.

Israeli soldiers  fired live rounds and teargas canisters at the protesters.

For almost four months now, Palestinians in the Gaza strip  have been protesting along the fence with Israel, demanding their right to return to the homes and land their families were expelled from 70 years ago.

The Great March of Return rallies culminated on May 15 to mark what Palestinians refer to as the Nakba, or Catastrophe - a reference to the forced removal of 750,000 Palestinians from their homes and villages to clear the way for the Israeli regime's establishment in 1948.

The mass Friday demonstrations have since continued. Today's demonstrations , were  the 16th  consecutive Friday of the Great March of Return.
