Top IRGC Commander: Dispatch of carrier strike group to Middle East psychological warfare

The top commander of the IRGC has stressed that given Iran's formidable defensive strengths, and the vulnerability of America's carrier strike group, the US neither has the courage nor the ability to wage war against the Islamic Republic.

Iran Press/Iran news: In a widely-reported speech to MPs in the parliament (Majlis) on Sunday morning, the newly-appointed top commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Major General Hossein Salami said the dispatch of a carrier strike group to this region is simply a form of psychological warfare by the United States.

Major General Salami also said he wants a closer and a more coordinated relation between the IRGC and parliament (Majlis) emphasising that using the parliament's legislative capabilities is 'on his agenda'.

The top IRGC commander said the Americans want to scare the people and some government officials with talk of war, but the reality is that the US carrier strike group is very vulnerable, and Iran's defensive and offensive capabilities are very formidable, making it highly unlikely that the Americans would take such a risk. The top IRGC commander added: "The Americans won't dare start a war."

A closed-door session of the Iranian parliament (Majlis) began on Sunday morning, with top IRGC Commander, Major General Hossein Salami, briefing MPs and answering questions.
