Governments, populations, the medical community and people involved in culture, art, and media all have a decisive role in the culture of organ donation, which is the only way to guarantee that the healthy organs of a brain-dead person can continue to work and save the lives of people in need of organ transplantation.
On the sideline of national organ donation conference, Katayuon Najafizadeh, pulmonologist and Intensive Care specialist and CEO of Iranian society of Organ Donation and Transplantation in an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Saturday said that Iran's record in organ donation and transplantation is impressive. She also said a hospital in Shiraz holds the world record in terms of the number of successful liver transplants carried out at a medical facility.
She added that organ donation is an issue that absolutely depends on social awareness.
