Iran Press/Iran news: The president, Hojjat-ol-Islam Hassan Rouhani, will visit aid and rescue operations in flood-stricken regions of Mazandaran and Golestan provinces on Wednesday 27 March.
Heavy downpours for over a week have led to extensive flooding in several areas of Mazandaran and Golestan provinces, damaging residential areas and infrastructure in both provinces, Iran Press reported.
Also the top commander of IRGC, Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari visited the flood-hit regions on Tuesday and tweeted: "The patience and resilience of local people in Aqqala (a flood-hit town in Golestan province) is quite remarkable, and no doubt stems from their religious faith and love for the Islamic Revolution."
On March 24, the first vice president Eshaq Jahangiri said the government will compensate for some of the damage caused by the floods in Mazandaran and Golestan provinces and will support and help the flood-affected people, to lift their spirits.
Golestan and Mazandaran provinces in the north of the country have been affected by heavy downpours over the past few days. The flooding has forced many people to abandon their homes in Golestan and Mazandaran provinces. The cities of Aqqala and Gomishan in Golestan province have borne the brunt of the floods. Evacuation orders have been issued in areas which are particularly badly affected to prevent further human losses. 103/211
