Iran Press/Iran news: Leader’s message was released in the wake of the recent destructive flood in Golestan and Mazandaran provinces, Iran Press reported.
In his message, the Leader stressed the fact that public donations and government aid will do much to alleviate the pain and suffering of flood victims, and is an important responsibility that can relieve part of the hardship and suffering of the people.
Referring to recent problems caused by floods in Khouzestan province, the Leader said: "We have a duty and responsibility to help the flood-stricken people of all provinces."
Iranian officials, including the speaker of the parliament (Majlis), visited the flood-affected regions in the north, and called for urgent assistance to the peoples of Mazandaran and Golestan provinces.
Speaker of parliament Ali Larijani during his trip to Mazandaran province called for urgent aid and assistance to the flood-hit regions and for speedy reconstruction of the infrastructure and housing swept away by the floodwaters.
In the meantime, Iran's Minister of Interior Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli after visiting the flood-hit regions said the people have access to their basic needs and aid and relief workers are doing everything they can to restore and return people to normal life.
Also, Mohammad-Esmaeil Najjar, Head of Iran's National Disaster Management Organization (NDMO) and Deputy Interior Minister said the government will continue its support for people and will provide financial assistance to them.
Meanwhile, General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in a statement expressed the armed forces' preparedness to help the people of flood-stricken regions.
The northern Golestan and Mazandaran provinces have been affected by heavy rains for the past few days. Flooding has forced the people of Aqqala and Gomishan cities in Golestan province to flee their homes. Evacuation orders have been issued to prevent further human losses. 103/211
