Drugs includes in US sanctions against Iran

The chairman of Food and Drug Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FDA) has said US sanctions against Iran includes medicinal drugs and medical equipment.

Iran Press/Iran news: Mehdi Pirsalehi made the remark in an interview with Iran Press news agency on the sideline of the opening ceremony of the international exhibition 'Iran Cosmetic' in Arvand Free Zone in southwestern Iran.

"Unfortunately, because of some difficulties in financial channels and despite promises by the international community, drugs and medical equipment are part of US sanctions against Iran," Pirsalehi noted.

He added: "Some foreign companies have told us that because of US sanctions and various US threats, they cannot cooperate with Iran. But fortunately we have enough drugs in store, and there is no problem of providing drugs to patients and anyone who needs medicinal drugs."

The Iranian official added: "Pharmaceutical companies that cooperate with Iran have used their own currency to provide drugs for Iran."
