Iran's First Vice-President said if Iran had not been in Syria, ISIS terrorists would have formed a government and would have power in the region.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's First Vice-President Es’hagh Jahangiri made the remarks on Sunday at the 10th Farabi International Award in Tehran.

He went on to say that the United States has started an economic and psychological war against the Islamic Republic, adding that Washington wants to give the impression that Iran faces a vague and uncertain future, targeting in particular the younger generation of Iranians.

Turning to the objectives of Western-trained and Western-armed terrorists, Jahangiri said: "Terrorist groups were killing innocent people in both Syria and Iraq in order to tarnish the image of Islam, to sully Islam, to portray Islam as a violent religion."

Jahangiri went on to say that Iran has gained invaluable experiences during past 40 years which can help the country to overcome current and future problems.

Pointing to US hostile actions against the Iranian nation, he called for increasing efforts to give people hope.

“Today, elites should also help the government and give warnings whenever required,” Jahangiri stressed, adding: “Today it’s time for building up trust between each other and in government.”

17 works by Iranian and foreign researchers on humanities were awarded at the Farabi ceremony.

Farabi International Award is an annual event hosted by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in collaboration with UNESCO and ISESCO and several domestic scientific and research centres to promote Islamic humanities.
