The 29th edition of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Regional Planning Council (RPC) began to work on Monday in Tehran.

Iran news: The aim of the four-day meeting is to discuss different aspects of ECO activities, Iran Press reported. 

According to this report, ambassadors and experts of the member states attend the council.

 Meanwhile, RPC will prepare ECO’s policies and programs according to Treaty of Izmir and the guidelines of the Council of Ministers (COM) and will submit it through the secretariat. 

ECO was established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey which was later joined by seven new members include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Earlier on May 3, the 9th transport summit of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was officially inaugurated in Turkmenistan. Iran's then- minister of roads and urbanization, Abbas Akhoundi, heading a high-ranking delegation, was participating in the summit.

Furthermore, on April 17, the Economic Cooperation Organization at the 23rd Meeting of Council of Ministers (COM) in a joint statement supported Iran’s membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO).105/203
