Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces said that the enemies have waged an extensive soft war against Iran.

Iran PressIran news: Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri said on Thursday that after realizing their plots to harm Iran militarily would get nowhere, the enemies have instead waged an extensive soft war against the country.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a Police exhibition in the western city of Kermanshah, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces said Iran is faced with a huge soft war, according to Tasnim News Agency.

The enemy has realized the futility, implacability and heavy casualties of any military action against Iran, so it has capitalized on “espionage and intelligence measures”, namely “semi-hard” activities, against Iran’s security, General Baqeri added.

Highlighting the rapid advances in cyber-technology and virtual space, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces urged the Iranian armed forces to keep up with the pace of change and update their counterintelligence gear.

In comments on Monday, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari slammed the media and information war on Iran as part of the enemy’s soft war strategy for harming the Islamic Republic and demoralizing the Iranian nation.

Disappointed by hard warfare, US and some of its regional allies has started resorting to soft war such as economic warfare against Iran.

The Leader of the Islamic revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali said last month in his meeting with members of the  Assembly of Experts that in addition to economic war, ill-wishers have started a media war against Tehran.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader said there is a history of Western media campaigning against Iran, but at the moment this campaigning has intensified.
