Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani said Iran is not looking forward to going to war with American forces anywhere in the region.

Iran Press/Irannews:  Speaking during a news conference on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly at U.N. headquarters in New York, Hassan Rouhani said, Iran will remain in 2015 nuclear deal as long as it serves its interests.

Dismissing US sanction as psychological warfare, Rouhani added, there is "nothing new" in the US sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Iranian president also described meeting with remaining signatories of nuclear deal as a "good step forward" but more action needed.

Addressing world leaders at the 73rd UN general assembly meeting on Tuesday, Rouhani said unfair US unilateral sanctions can be viewed as a form of economic terrorism.

He drew the attention of the international community  to a string of violations of international treaties and accords by the Trump administration, and admonished the US leadership for abrogating the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, also known as the Iran nuclear deal.

Speaking at the United Nations Security Council on Iran, US president Donald Trump, doubled down on the plan to impose sanctions on Iran, and said they will be in "full force" by November.

US president once again criticized a nuclear deal with Iran endorsed by the security council three years ago as a "horrible, one-sided deal" and asked international partners to pressure Iran to end its missile work.

Donald Trump also used his address to the 73rd session of the General Assembly on Tuesday to attack Iran, and promised hard-hitting sanctions against Tehran while urging the world to isolate the Islamic Republic.

On May 8, US President Donald Trump pulled the US out of the The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) reached between Tehran and the world powers in 2015.

Washington has since told countries they must stop buying the OPEC producer's oil from November 4 or face financial consequences.

Under the JCPOA, Iran undertook to put limits on its nuclear program in exchange for the removal of nuclear-related sanctions imposed against Tehran.

Donald Trump’s decision to scrap the nuclear deal was sharply criticised by other signatories of the deal, who have pledged to uphold their side of the agreement.
