President Trump took to the world stage on Tuesday to deliver his address before the United Nations General Assembly in New York. It is his second time addressing the body since taking office.

America/ According to an Iran Press report, addressing world leaders in New York on Tuesday, US president Donald Trump showed his true nationalistic and protectionist colours, when he stood at the podium of the UN general assembly and declared: "We don't believe in globalism, rather we believe in nationalism".

He also threatened China with more protectionist measures and claimed Chinese trade practices are unfair and have led to many factories in the United States closing. 

President Trump also threatened OPEC countries by saying: "America will not tolerate high oil prices any longer. OPEC must lower oil prices."

Trump demonstrated his firm belief in protectionism by boasting about slapping massive tariffs on import of Chinese goods. He also chided China for flouting what he called "every principle of World Trade Organization WTO."

In his speech on Tuesday, Trump condemned “the horrible 2015 nuclear deal” between Iran and six world powers and called on other countries to completely isolate the Islamic Republic.

He said more sanctions will follow after the resumption of oil sanctions on Iran on November 5.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Trump said that "in June, I traveled to Singapore to meet face-to-face with chairman Kim Jong Un. We had highly productive conversations and meetings. We agreed that it was in both countries interest to pursue the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. Since that meeting, we have seen encouraging measures that few could have imagined a short time ago. The missiles and rockets are no longer flying in every direction. Nuclear testing has stopped. Some military facilities are already being dismantled. Our hostages have been released.

He also pointed to Syria crisis and said that the UAE [United Arab Emirates], Saudi Arabia and Qatar have pledged millions of dollars of aid for the people of Syria and Yemen. They obliged to help end Yemen’s horrible civil war. It is up to the nations of the region to decide what kind of future they want for themselves and their children. For that reason, the United States is working with the Persian Gulf cooperation counsel, Jordan, and Egypt to establish a strategic alliance so Middle Eastern nations can advance security and stability across their home region. Thanks to the United States military, and our partnership with many of your nations, I am pleased to report that the bloodthirsty killers known as ISIS have been driven out from the territory they once held in Iraq and Syria.

He also announced that the United States will respond if chemical weapons are deployed by the Syrian government.

The 73rd session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 73)  opened on 18 September 2018. The first day of the high-level General Debate is today,Tuesday, 25 September 2018, and is scheduled to last for nine working days.

President Rouhani is scheduled to deliver a speech at UNGA on Tuesday 25 September.
