The Islamic republic of Iran is marking the 28th anniversary of the return of Iran's prisoners of war on 17 August 1990.

Iran Press- 26 of Mordad 1369 on the Iranian  Solar  calendar (corresponding to 17 August 1990) marks a very important event dating back to the time when Islamic Iran embraced her dear prisoners of war ; The Brave men  who have been fighting with  the dreadful  Iraqi Ba'ath  Party'.

The return of these broken winged doves after years of tolerating the most sever tortures, was the  result of  resistance the Great nation of Iran against their enemy as well as  moving through the frameworks determined by of the Leader of the Islamic  Revolution.

This great event also  serves  as the  most important achievement of persistence on one's principles  and     ideals and also it is considered as the result  of fighting  Iran's sworn enemies   during the 8 years  of Sacred defense against  Iraqi Ba'ath  Party'.

Some 28 years ago on 17  August 1990 the first group of Iranian prisoners of war were released  by Saddam Hussain and  they  could finally step on their motherland's soil.

The event  was considered as  the  most  important step for complete enforcement  of UNSC's 598  resolution to provide peace between Iran and Iraq.
