Iran Press/ Iran news: According to the document, the Shalamcheh railway will be connected to Basra, and the Imam Khomeini Port will be connected to the port of Latakia in Syria via a rail network.
CEO of Iran's Railway Company Saeed Rasouli said the MOU with Iraq and Syria had been signed at a trilateral summit held in Tehran over the past three months.
Regarding other corridors and connecting them to the rail network, Rasouli said: "In relation to the development of other corridors on the Khosravi border, the rail network is currently under construction and the Chabahar-Zahedan railway is being constructed, too. The Khaf and Herat routes are also being completed, and these will create new international rail routes."
Vice-Minister for Roads and Urban Development added: "We are witnessing good success in the tourism sector as well. European tourism trains are currently traveling to Iran, the last of which was last month. We also signed bilateral protocols with Turkey."

Rasouli said earlier that rail-based dry ports have an important role in the development of transit, attracting foreign investments into the country and coping with the sanctions.
