Iran Press/ Iran news: Iran's envoy to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Farhad Mamdouhi made the remark on Friday at the UN high-level forum to observe the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the declaration and program of action on the Culture of Peace, saying, “Today, the world’s democratic principles and international law are increasingly and openly being ignored.”
“One of the world’s biggest threats is increasing unilateralism,” added Mamdouhi.
“In fact, the imposed unilateral actions, using force and threatening to use force, and the imposition of unilateral sanctions as a tool to achieve national policy goals, have a major undesirable effect on promoting regional and international peace,” the Iranian diplomat continued.
On 8 May 2018, US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the landmark nuclear accord which was signed in Vienna in 2015 after years of negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 group (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France, and Germany). Trump also slapped illegal unilateral sanctions on Iran after walking away from the nuclear deal.101/211/214
