Iran Press/Iran news: Abbas Mousavi responded to a question about whether Iran has given Britain or the Gibraltar government a guarantee for the release of the Grace 1 oil tanker, saying that: "We support Syria in all areas, including oil and energy."
He went on to say, "This is legal and has nothing to do with any third country. The Islamic Republic of Iran sells its oil to any new or old customer," Iran Press reported.
Mousavi, referred to the tweets posted by the Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif and Iran's ambassador to London, saying "What we publicly stated was simply the truth about the destination of the Grace 1, which was not headed to Syria in the first place."
Mousavi pointed out that "In fact, they have raised the issue of commitment, in a face-saving gesture after they have to abandon this illegal act and piracy."
The Supreme Court in the British territory of Gibraltar approved the release of the Grace 1 on Thursday, which was seized off the country's coast by authorities on July 4.
Iran's ambassador to the UK, Hamid Baeidinejad, said the United States was "desperately" trying to block the release but faced a "miserable defeat". 101/218
