Iran Press/ Iran news: The Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has belittled and admonished the United States by saying: "Isn't it shameful that a superpower has lost all wars that it has entered into since the Vietnam war of the 1960s and 1970s, except one, and that is the war with Grenada, a tiny country?"
According to Iran Press news agency, asked about the impounding of a British oil tanker, the Stena Impero, and the possibility of war in the Persian Gulf, Zarif said: "The British had no justification to impound the Iranian supertanker, and what the Royal Navy did off the coast of Gibraltar was an act of piracy, pure and simple. The British are helping the Americans in trampling over international laws and norms. But what Iran did was not reciprocal action."
"We used to turn a blind eye to certain infringements of maritime law for many years, but since the British, in an act of piracy and shear lawlessness, impounded the Iranian supertanker Grace I, we decided not to turn a blind eye anymore and we are now taking action to stop smuggling and other infringements of international maritime law," Zarif added.
In further remarks, the Iranian foreign minister stressed that Iran's security can 'never be bought', we will never seek guarantees from foreign powers for Iran's security because Iran's security is guaranteed by the Iranian people.
Zarif added: "We will overcome US sanctions by relying on our own resources, by relying on our own abilities, talents, and innovations, and by relying on the great Iranian nation. The more they sanction us, the more we will advance forward by relying on our own people and our own talents and resources.
