The Taekwondo World Cup kicked off yesterday with the participation of 97 taekwondo players from nine countries in Wushui, China; the event will continue for three days.

Iran Press/Asia: The men's team competitions have been taking place today (Saturday) and 'The Islamic Azad University team' as Iran's representative in this World Cup, drafted its rivals and secured the first place for itself.   

Iran's representative defeated Kazakhstan 48 to 66; then crushed the host team, China 66 to 53 to reach the final, Iran Press reported.

At the last station, the strong South Korean team was to lose against Iran's representative 71 to 66 to unhand the last opportunity for the championship and it was the Iranian team that reached the apex and caught the first stage.

Hossein Lotfi, Amir Mohammad Bakhshi, Sina Bahrami, Erfan Nazemi, and Saeed Rajabi were competing for Iran's representative in the event.

First three teams also earned respectively 80, 48 and 28.80 points to enhance their Olympic rankings.

The champion team was also rewarded with 20 thousand dollars. 101/212
