Iranian, Turkish FMs discuss latest developments in the world

Iran and Turkey Foreign Ministers held talks over mutual interests and latest developments in the world.

Iran Press/Asia: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, discussed the latest developments in the world as well as efforts to promote bilateral relations between Iran and Turkey in Istanbul on Friday, Iran Press reported.

Heading a high-ranking delegation, Zarif arrived in the Turkish city of Istanbul to attend an emergency meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on a recent terrorist attack in New Zealand that killed dozens of Muslim people.

Earlier Iran's Majlis called on OIC to pursue the issue.

Zarif said the request of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Turkish Foreign Ministry immediately hosted an extraordinary summit of OIC foreign ministers to review the issue.

According to Zarif, at the meeting, which was also attended by the Foreign Minister of New Zealand, the foreign ministers of the OIC member states intend to take the necessary measures to prevent the repetition of such incidents, in addition to the condemnation of the crime.

It also said that apart from the OIC members, the representatives of the United Nations, the European Union and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) were also invited to the meeting. 208/104
