The trilateral meeting, attended by Azerbaijan's Deputy Oil Minister Natiq Abbasov, Iran's deputy Minister of Energy Homayoun Haeri, and Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation was held on Thursday in Baku.
The issue of creating a North-South electricity corridor had been discussed in other trilateral meetings between Iran, Azerbaijan and Russian presidents in Baku and Tehran, as well as the visit by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to Azerbaijan in March.
Haeri, in Thursday meeting, said that Iran is interested in implementing the project of connecting the electrical grids, adding that the three countries have the capacities required for electricity exchange.
Echoing Haeri's views, the Azerbaijani official said that the ground has been laid for creating the North-South electricity corridor.
The participants, then, agreed on the next meeting in June in Moscow as well as drafting the joint agreement.
A final protocol was also signed by the three officials.
