The United Nations General Assembly has condemned the crimes committed by the Zionist regime against the Palestinians, by an overwhelming majority.

Some 120 Members of the United Nations General Assembly on  Wednesday voted in favor of a resolution proposed by the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League in condemnation of the Zionist regime's illegal acts in the occupied lands and continuation of its occupation.

Only eight countries including the United States voted against the resolution while 45 countries abstained.

Prior to the voting, the chair of the meeting called for inclusion of a US-proposed amendment in the draft resolution which condemned Hamas but the representative of Algeria as one of the main sponsors of the resolution opposed him arguing that such an amendment had not been on the agenda.

Eventually, the US proposed amendment draft was put to the vote. There were 62 votes in favor and 48 against and 42 abstentions. So, the chair of the meeting announced that the draft had not received enough votes to be included in the resolution.

Meanwhile, Iranian Ambassador to the United Nations Eshaq ALe Habib said on Wednesday that the international community must stand by the Palestinian people and the Quds occupying regime must not have impunity for its crimes.

'We voted in favor of the resolution because the international community should stand by the Palestinian people and condemn the massacre of Palestinians by the Zionist regime,' the Iranian ambassador said.

Eshaq ALe Habib added that among the martyred Palestinians there was a young physician wearing medical uniform, such crimes should not be allowed to be justified by any excuse.

The occupying forces must not be allowed to commit crimes while enjoying full impunity, he said, adding that the siege of Gaza which has turned it into the world's largest prison must come to an end so that the Palestinians can have an independent state with Quds as its capital.

By opposing the proposed resolution, the United States once again showed that it does not comply with any international regulations or human rights laws when it comes to the Zionist regime and only thinks about this regime, the Iranian ambassador said.

The UN General Assembly showed once again Wednesday evening that the US policies on the Middle East are all wrong and against the demand of the majority of countries of the world.
