Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met and conferred with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Wednesday afternoon, discussing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and economic issues with him.

Zarif arrived in Pretoria on Tuesday at the head of a politico-economic delegation.

He held first round of talks with his South African counterpart on Tuesday evening.

South Africa is the second largest economy in the African continent and following implementation of JCPOA took big steps towards development of relations with Tehran.

Following a visit by South African president to Tehran in  2016, the two countries took steps to further develop their cooperation in the fields of transport, shipping, tourism and banking ties.
