Iran Press/Iran news: In an interview with RT, Mohammad Javad Zarif added that it is not possible to replace an occupier with another occupier, and the only way to maintain security is the establishment of the Syrian army at the border.
He said about the talks between Tehran and Ankara on possible military operations in northern Syria and added that we have talked a lot with our friends in Turkey about military operations in Syria. Our conversations were bilaterally and triple, Iran Press reported.
Zarif also said that only Syrians can establish security in areas (North on the border with Turkey) and Iran and Russia are ready to help Turkey and Syria to reach a solution.
In response to a question about Tehran's mediation between Damascus and Ankara, Zarif said "If both parties ask us, we are ready to act as a mediator."
Turkey is pushing for a 32 kilometre (20 mile) 'security zone' in Syria after receiving US backing.
Turkey is trying to expand its control in northern Syria, hoping to benefit as the United States pulls its forces out of Kurdish-held territory. 101/ 211 /202
