Iran Press/Iran news: In a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister, Walid al-Muallem, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said that one of the important regional goals and foreign policy principles of Tehran is establishment of full stability, security and normal conditions in Syria for the return of Syrians’ to their normal life.
He added that after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, close Tehran-Damascus relations started with the special attention of the leaders of the two countries and these relations will continue to stand in all fields serving the national interests of the two nations, Iran Press reported.
President Hassan Rouhani met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria Walid al-Muallem on Wednesday in Tehran.
He also congratulated the people and the government of Syria for their victories over the terrorists, adding, “We have no doubt that your victory against a great conspiracy in this region led by the United States and some other countries is a great victory and success for the Syrians and the entire region.”
President Rouhani added: "Syria still faces hurdles until it reaches full victory. Overcoming these hurdles is a common goal for the two countries."
“Therefore, it is essential that we further develop our cooperation and coordination in all fields,” he said.
President Rouhani also went on to state that the relations between the two countries should stand strong in long term, saying, “To realize this goal, we need to take our steps with sensitivity and care by considering the interests of the two nations.”
During the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria Walid al-Muallem also congratulated the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, and appreciated the Iranian nation and government’s unhesitating support of Syria.
He said, “The Syrian nation and government praise and rely on Tehran’s unwavering stances in supporting Syria’s territorial integrity and combating terrorism and foreign occupation.”
