The collection of glass paintings based on illustrations in the Shahnameh (Book of Kings) by Persian poet Ferdowsi (940-1020) is on display at Sa’dabad Historical Complex Gallery till July 4.
Thousands of people have come to the exhibition and enjoyed themselves by looking at the exquisite works of the Timurid era’s Shahnameh.

This exhibition held by the Green House of Sa'dabad Complex, and included 19 exquisite works of the Timurid era’s Shahnameh, in 40-70 cm.
After 2 years of study, the restoration and reconstruction of the images on glass was done by Professor Marzieh Sadat Kamanian and a group of artists; Yasaman Siavashi, Fatemeh Kahlouyi and Masoumeh Karimian, for the first time as a collection of Shahnameh images.

Several exquisite copies of the Shahnameh were scripted and illustrated under the Timurid dynasty, which was founded by Tamerlane, the Turkic ruler of Central Asia who lived from 1336 until 1405.
The Shahnameh of Baysunghur was inscribed on UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register list in 2007.
The copy was made in 1430 for Prince Baysunghur (1399-1433) who was the grandson of Tamerlane.
The Shahnameh of Baysunqur is kept in the library of Golestan Palace in Tehran.
