Commentary (IP) - The late Imam Khomeini founded the Islamic Republic during a revolution in the second half of the 20th century, fighting against the global hegemony to make Iran independent.

Iran PressIran news: February 1 is reminiscent of the historical return of Imam Khomeini to his homeland Iran after 15 years of exile, a recovery that paved the way for the unprecedented popular revolution of the century, which got the victory on February 11, 1977.

The fatal 10-day period, as of Imam Khomeini's entrance to Iran and the victory of the Islamic Revolution, is called 10-day of Dawn in Iran, when different classes of the people, including those from critical entities like the army, oil company, and air force walked into the streets.

Here, the role of the leadership was of undeniable importance; a wise leader who should present a substitute for the current ruling system, and Imam Khomeini had it delivered: The Islamic Republic of Iran administered with the votes of all Iranians.

Imam Khomeini was a resourceful, brave, thoughtful leader, aware of the world's status quo, who led the greatest contemporary revolution using modern and innovative methods.

Training committed forces, spreading revolutionary ideology, mobilizing the public, and bringing elites along with the masses to the scene, Imam Khomeini established a vast and powerful movement that surprised the US-backed regime of Shah and its foreign supporters, making them unable to take any action to prevent the Islamic Revolution.

Since then, the revolution turned into the source of developments and the model for awakening the oppressed Muslim nations in the world.

The Islamic Revolution of Iran, led by Imam Khomeini in various political, economic, social, and cultural aspects, is by no means comparable to any other revolution in the world. In fact, except for the Islamic Revolution, there is no other revolution encompassing all the beliefs and values of a society and the participation of all social classes.

Imam Khomeini himself says: "Look at French Revolution and Soviet Revolution. People should see what was going on before the revolutions and what is now going on. Do the nations have achieved anything?"

Although, he was aware of the political, cultural, and social status quo of Iran on the verge of the revolution and, before that, stressed the divinity of the development created within the minds of the people as the most critical factor of their victory over the foreign-backed regime of Shah.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, says: "February 1, in one sense, is the start of Islam's power. Although on February 1, 1977, the oppression system was apparently in power, actually, it was not. In fact, with the entrance of the great Imam Khomeini, the rotten and corrupted system and the essence of the monarchic system – which was reactionary, wrong, inhumane, and unacceptable – was emptied and destroyed. They were making futile attempts to preserve it and keep it on for a few more days, but it was impossible and was not realized".

The German orientalist Udo Steinbach said that Imam Khomeini was the most political and spiritual leader in the world, with a charismatic personality, and pointed out that all the ideals of the Islamic Republic were based were rooted in his thoughts.
