Window of negotiations is open: Zarif

Iranian Foreign Minister has said the window of negotiations with Persian Gulf countries is still open.

Iran Press/Iran news: "We are ready to negotiate with the countries of the region on one condition. Palestinian's cause should be their approaches, not Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's wishes," Mohammad Javad Zarif said.

Iranian Foreign Minister made the remarks in an interview with Al-Alam television network on Friday.

Tehran has always welcomed negotiations with regional states and proposed to sign a non-aggression treaty with them, he said adding that Iran is keen on friendship with all regional countries, especially the Persian Gulf states.

Ready to be in Saudi Arabia tomorrow

"I would be in Riyadh tomorrow if Saudi Arabia was ready to change its policy," Zarif noted.

The Foreign Minister said Iran needs no mediators to hold talks with the US, adding that a prerequisite to any talks with Washington is the implementation of the nuclear deal, known as JCPOA.

Zarif said “We don’t need a mediator. The US has begun an economic war against our people…this policy needs to stop. When it does, the situation will have a complete changeover.”

Elsewhere, Iranian Foreign Minister said the policy of the US administration is “to pretend to be ready for talks and negotiations.”

Negotiations with US up to highest-ranking authorities

Asked about when and under what circumstances the Islamic Republic would “contact Trump, or answer his call,” Zarif said, “deciding on this matter is up to the country’s highest-ranking authorities.”

Iranian Foreign Minister went on to add, however, that “Holding negotiations only makes sense when the other side is committed to its obligations.”

“Some think we have a problem with Mr. Trump. This is not the case…even during the Obama administration, the US failed to live up to all of its commitments,” Zarif added.

US will never get a better deal than JCPOA

Iranian Foreign Minister also said that the US will never get a better deal than the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran’s nuclear program.

Stressing that the US first needs to implement its JCPOA-related commitments before holding negotiations with Iran, Zarif said “We have a proverb in Persian that says, ‘first prove you’re my brother, then ask for inheritance.’ [Americans] need to first come forward and prove their commitment to the agreement…which is not a two-page long, but a 150-page long agreement.”

Iranian Foreign Minister said that the US blocked purchase of food and medicines and airplane parts ignoring the provisional measures given by the International Court of Justice following the Iranian complaints against US wrongful sanctions.

US violates International Law

Rebuking the US false and provocative policies in the region, Zarif emphasized that the main issue is that the US has violated the International Law, has imposed economic war on Iranians and is preventing imports of many goods by bullying policies.

Iranian Foreign Minister urged the international community to come to senses and understand that Iran always advocates peace, is committed to international regulations and cannot stand idle to the US aggressive policies.

Zarif said that the US Administration has entered a serious economic war against Iran and that Iranian powerful standing in the region created concerns for the US. 101/201
