Iran Press/ Iran News: United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Geir O. Pedersen, who headed a delegation to Tehran to meet with officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, met with Ali Asghar Khaji, Iranian foreign minister's special assistant for political affairs.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest developments in Syria, including the Constitutional Committee, the Refugee Conference, Idlib, and the East Euphrates.
Khaji criticized the non-participation of some countries, especially Western countries, in the conference of Syrian refugees and asylum seekers in Damascus.
Iranian foreign minister's special assistant for political affairs said that Western countries claiming to support humanitarian issues had taken Syria's humanitarian issues hostage to their political goals and tried to prevent the conference from taking place.
Pedersen, who traveled to Tehran from Moscow to continue consultations, explained to the Iranian side the latest arrangements made with members of the Syrian Constitutional Committee regarding the agenda and timing of future meetings of the Constitutional Committee.
In this regard, he thanked and appreciated Iran's efforts to support the political process of the Syrian crisis.
