Iran Press/ Asia: Perhaps when Imam Khomeini (RA) emphasized Islamic unity and named a week after unity, its importance was not understood as much as it is today. Imam Khomeini's realism regarding the category of unity was a strategic view that considered the only solution to the problems of the Islamic world and the progress of Islamic countries in the shadow of unity.
Maulana Afrooz Alam Ghasemi, the founder of the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (National society of Indian scholars, said in an interview with Iranpress about the importance of Imam Khomeini's (RA) initiative in naming the week of unity:
"Imam Khomeini (may Allah be pleased with him) was a great and historical personality of the Islamic world who was able to provide a solution to resolve disputes between Muslims with accurate knowledge."
On the initiative of Imam Khomeini (may Allah be pleased with him), the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awl (Holy Prophet's birth anniversary according to the Sunnis) to the 17th of Rabi-ul-Awl (Holy Prophet's birth anniversary according to the Shia's) has been named the Week of Unity. This initiative is a strong sign in the thought of Imam Khomeini (RA) to remove the difference between Shia and Sunni.
Imam Khomeini (may Allah be pleased with him) said in one of their statements:
"One of the days that I chose for the unity of Muslims is the holidays, including the birthday anniversary of the Holy Prophet (may peace be upon him), so that people can show respect and gather together, and this will strengthen their unity."
Unity Week is one of the most valuable achievements of the Islamic Revolution under the leadership of Imam Khomeini (RA) and its special continuation by Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
"Imam Kashif Yaqoub", a man of Thought and Sunni scholar in Ghana, in an interview with Iranpress correpondent in Accra, stated that Imam Khomeini (RA) was a unifying leader and supporter of peace.
"Imam Khomeini (RA) was a great personality and his thoughts had a great impact on people, nations, and governments all over the world, because he was a harbinger of unity and a benefactor of humanity."
The message of Unity Week is to show and consolidate the brotherhood of all Muslims so that under the shadow of unity and implementation of the orders of the beloved Prophet of Islam (PBUH), there is no opportunity for enemies to orchestrate the plot.
This year, due to the frequent insults to the Holy Quran in some European countries and the escalation of the Zionist regime's crimes against the Palestinian people and Al-Aqsa Mosque, it is more important to pay attention to the strategic component of "Islamic unity" to neutralize conspiracies.
"Hojjat al-Islam and Muslims" Hamid Shahriari, Secretary General of the World Forum for the Proximity of Islamic Religions, said in an exclusive interview with Iranpress news agency:
