Iran Press/Iran news: Addressing a gathering, 'the world of Nowrouz ', on Thursday 28 February in the Conference Hall at Milad Tower in Tehran, Zarif referred to the first sentence of the Constitution of UNESCO which declares: “since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed.”
Building peace in the minds of men
Zarif pointedly added: "Lack of knowledge, lack of understanding is a real problem in today's world. Let us put to good use this opening sentence of UNESCO's Constitution, and solve our problems. Let us build peace in the minds of men and women.
Addressing a gathering of ambassadors from many countries in Milad Tower, Zarif said after a hiatus of five years, once again this year we are observing the International Day of Nowrouz, alongside many different countries which celebrate Nowrouz.
Nowrouz means changing the way we look at things
Zarif added: "Nowrouz is not a natural event or phenomena. It is a human event, it signifieds change and renewal in human beings, and this is something that UNESCO has put on top of its agenda, namely changing our mindset, changing our viewpoint, changing the way we look at things."
In further remarks, Zarif poignantly said: "We need to change the mindset of imperialism, power, domination, and the use of destructive weapons to a mindset of dialogue, cooperation, peaceful coexistence in our countries, in our region, and throughout the world." 211/103
