Tehran (IP) - The vice president of Iran for women and family affairs Masoumeh Ebtekar said that Iranian women have advanced in different areas after the Islamic revolution.

Iran Press/ Iran news: The vice president of Iran for women and family affairs Masoumeh Ebtekar stressed the Iranian women's advances in the past 40 years, since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, and said: "One of the most significant areas in which women have made progress is in sports."

In an exclusive interview with Iran Press, Ebtekar said: "We presented a report "40 by 40" of the advances of the Iranian women in 40 different areas, and one of the most significant areas that Iranian women have advanced is in the area of sports."

"Today we see it that practically in every field of sports, Iranian women are achieving both international medals as well as at the national level, at the local level, in every city you see that the federations are active and women are members of federations," Ebtekar added.

She said: "They are the vice presidents, and they have a lot of medals at the international levels, in the Olympic games, in the Asian games and they are advancing and we see them advancing in every field."

She reiterated: "This is a source of hope, a source of optimism. In terms of attending the different games in the stadiums, the main issue was that we need certain infrastructural changes or modifications to be made to our stadiums. So women could also attend in terms of their safety and in terms of the fact that they need their own special areas to be able to both, in terms of entering, exiting, but also their sitting areas, different modifications that need to be made in the stadiums have been underway and the government has a clear guideline on this regard."

The vice president for women and family affairs added: "I think that most of the obstacles are already removed and we hope to see women in sports stadiums on the basis of the guidelines and all the values and Islamic framework that we have," Ebtekar continued.

Ebtekar went on to say: "We hope to see that women will also attend different games and watch them as they are athletes themselves, they are very active in many different fields. They also have the opportunity to attend our stadiums, particularly large stadiums like Azadi Stadium. We hope to see that." 101/211/218
