IP- The U.S embassy in Myanmar urged its citizens to “shelter-in-place” on Sunday, citing reports of military movements in the commercial capital Yangon, after armored vehicles were sighted there for the first time since the Feb. 1 military coup.

Iran press/ Asia: The embassy also warned about a “possibility of telecommunications interruptions overnight between 1:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m”.

On 1 February, a military coup happened in Myanmar. After months of dispute with the government over approval or disapproval of the November 2020 elections, the military junta arrested all government leaders.

Westerners, who had turned a blind eye to various crimes in the Suu Kyi-led Myanmar, have condemned the coup.

The US sanctioned 10 Myanmar military officials Thursday for their roles in overthrowing that country's civilian government.

Among those designated are Commander-in-Chief Min Aung Hlaing and his deputy Soe Win.

Now the United States is facing a crisis of intervention or non-intervention in Myanmar’s case.
