Iranian Foreign Minister has said the US administration has started an economic war against the Iranian nation and is spreading anti-Iranian sentiment and propaganda on a daily basis.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad  Zarif in meeting in Tehran with Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono on Wednesday referred to the historic relations between Iran and Japan, and described the two countries as good friends and partners with close political, economic and cultural ties.

In this difficult situation, the Iranian administration will review its financial policies and will amend the budget in order to assist the people, without reliance on oil revenues, Zarif said according to IRNA.

In the meantime, the Japanese foreign minister, for his part, described the Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo's visit to Iran as historic.

The official said Iran is an important country in the region, noting that escalation of tensions in the region is not in the interests of any country.

The Japanese foreign minister said Tokyo is ready to do its best to ease tensions in the region.

Japanese prime minister heading a high-ranking political delegation arrived in Tehran on Wednesday to hold talks with senior Iranian officials.

The trip is within the framework of traditional and longstanding relations and in line with developing bilateral ties and issues of mutual interest.
