Iran Press/Middle East: US troops stationed at the Al-Omar oil field on the eastern outskirts of Deir Ez-Zor have targeted some military bases on the Iraqi-Syrian border Friday night with missile and artillery attacks.
There have been no reports of the casualties of the artillery and missile attack.
The Lebanese Al-Mayadeen TV also reported that US fighter jets were hovering over Al-Qa'im town in Iraq's al-Anbar province and its border with Syria.
Earlier on Friday, US fighters attacked multiple locations of Iraqi Hashd Al-Shaabi forces, among the locations hit was a position in Najaf and three other places south of the capital Baghdad.
The attack killed and wounded a number of Iraqi civilians and military personnel, and the airport under construction in Karbala was also destroyed.
The early Friday US airstrikes were carried out about 24 hours after at least 18 PMU forces were killed in air raids targeting an area southeast of the city of al-Bukamal in eastern Syria and near the border with Iraq.
After the US airstrike on Iraqi military bases, the Foreign Ministry of the country summoned the US and British ambassadors and declared the government's protest against the violation of Iraqi national sovereignty.
The Iraqi President Barham Salih also condemned the US bombardment of several points in Iraq including the airport under construction in Karbala province and called it the violation of his country’s sovereignty.
Following the successes of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) or Hashd Al-Shaabi in the fight against terrorist groups in the region, the US and the Zionist regime have stepped up efforts to increase pressure on the PMU.
As a key member of the Resistance Front, the Iraqi PMU has a key role in combating US-Israeli plots and actions in the region.
