Tehran (IP) - The Spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the historic crime of the US against the Iranian plane above the Persian Gulf in 1988 is neither forgettable nor forgivable.

Iran PressIran News: On July 3, 1988, an Iranian passenger plane was shut down by a US missile, and all 290 passengers were killed. This crime occurred when the USS Vincennes fired a missile at an Iranian passenger plane flying from Bandar Abbas (southern Iran) to Dubai. The flight number was 'Flight 655.'

Recalling the tragic incident, Nasser Kanani said that the US government never apologized to the Iranian nation over the crime but awarded with courage medal the commander of the destroyer targeted the plane.

Kanani noted that the horrible crime showed that despite its trumpeting human rights, the US government spares no efforts, even in commiting crime, to reach its goals.

He stressed that the Iranian nation would never forget the crime.

French government should follow what it had already advised others about

The Spokesman for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the French government to follow the pieces of advice they had given to others and listen to the outcry of the citizens and to pay attention to the voice for actions against racial discrimination and to avoid abusive behavior.

Kanani went on to elaborate more about the French government, saying: "Those who give advice to others and preach wisely to others and talk about the position of a country that respects human rights should listen to the voices of the protestors and avoid unnecessary violence and address the legal demands of the protestors. {It is better to} Follow the advice they give others."

Regarding the French interventionist approach toward Iran's riots last year, he stated: "In our own internal developments, they did not just give advice; they also intervened increasingly, their actions and statements were quite provocative, and what happened in Iran, a significant part of it, originated from their intervention, where instead of recommending peace, recommended violence."

We advise them to listen to the outcry  of the citizens and to pay attention to the voice for actions against  racial discrimination and to avoid abusive behavior."

Compromise not works to stop Israeli war machine

The Spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Israeli regime's ongoing crimes show that normalization and compromise do not work to stop the regime's war machine, and the regime cannot be trusted for peace either.

Israel’s military has launched air raids on the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, dropping missiles from helicopters at midnight on Monday, which has so far left nine Palestinians dead and dozens of others wounded.

Nasser Kanani highlighted Iran's position concerning the Israeli crime, noting that the Islamic Republic of Iran condemns the regime's ongoing raids on the Palestinian people and expects the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in this regard.

Kanani called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to pursue support for the Palestinian nation and condemn Israeli terrorism.

He stated that the Palestinian nation is striving to protect its legal rights and defend itself against a usurping regime, adding that no doubt the regime will once again suffer a heavy defeat from the Palestinian people.

Iran to Sweden: Apology is not enough

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed to the desecration of the Holy Quran, saying that the Sweden government's apology for the blasphemous act was not enough.

Naser Kanani emphasized the deep offense caused by the sacrilege of the Holy Quran, stating that it is a grave insult to the society as well as the values held by Muslims across the globe.

Kanani held the Swedish government accountable for the incident and urged them to listen to the voices of Muslims worldwide.

The apology and regret expressed by the Swedish government were deemed insufficient, and Kanani called for the compensation as well as measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Similar to the expectations of believers around the world, Iran expects the Swedish government to take firm action to deter future incidents of this nature, he added.
