Police reported that a 59-year-old man is believed to have fatally shot his siblings and niece in their family home before taking his own life in the front yard in what appears to be a murder-suicide incident over the weekend at a Long Island residence.

Iran PressAmerica: On Sunday at 11:58 a.m., police arrived at a house in Syosset, New York, after they received reports of shots fired, according to the Nassau County Police Department. They discovered a man outside the home with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.

Police say Joseph DeLucia Jr., 59, lived in the home with his mother, who recently died. According to police, Delucia may have been upset by the circumstances surrounding the sale of the house.

On Monday, police say DeLucia killed four family members before killing himself.

Police identified the family members as Joann Kearns, 69, Frank DeLucia, 64, Tina Hammond, 64 and Victoria Hammond, 30.
