Tehran (IP) - Personal envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan and Regional Affairs, met with special representative of Iran's Foreign Minister for Afghanistan Affairs.

Iran PressIran News: The developments in Afghanistan, including the peace process and the security in Afghanistan, were discussed in the meeting between Jean Arnault,  Mohammad Ebrahim Taherianfard.

Pointing out that he considered peace and security in Afghanistan as peace and security in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Taherianfard expressed support for the peace process in Afghanistan. 

He also expressed Iran's readiness to cooperate in facilitating and advancing the inter-Afghan dialogue and stressed the need to protect the people's achievements over the past two decades.

The two sides also expressed concern over the escalation of violence in Afghanistan in recent months and called for a reduction in violence and an end to civilian casualties.
