Tehran (IP) – Iran's President cited the unprecedented drought in the country and the accumulation of remaining problems from previous years as the main reasons for the current problems in Khuzestan.

Iran PressIran news: President Rouhani emphasized: "Tolerating water shortages and heat above 50 degrees is very hard and exhausting, and people have the right to protest the current situation."

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stating that the situation in the province was completely unintentional, and said: "The good, patient and resilient people of the province should not doubt that the government listens to their rightful voice of protest and does its best to solve the problem quickly."

He instructed the Governor-General of Khuzestan to use all the necessary facilities in the province and the neighboring provinces and act quickly to solve the problems with the coordination and cooperation of all agencies.

Earlier, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has urged officials to address the problems of Khuzestan province in the southwest of the country.

"If one cares about the welfare of people, he can not be indifferent with the difficulties and problems facing people in this southern province, so, this is the perpetual and immediate duty of all governments that should be thinking of solving people’s problems," Ayatollah Khamenei said on Wednesday.
