The head of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees arrived in Kabul on Monday.

Iran Press/Asia: In a Twitter message, Filippo Grandi announced: "This morning I have landed in Kabul. During my visit I will assess the country’s acute humanitarian needs and the situation of 3.5 million displaced Afghans."

He added: "I am grateful to all UN, NGO and other humanitarian workers who are working hard on the ground to meet those needs."

The visit coincides with a UN special meeting on food aid for the Afghan people.
On the other hand, the UN Under-Secretary-General stated: "The international organization seeks to obtain a written guarantee from the Taliban to ensure the security of the staff of international aid organizations in Afghanistan."
