Iran Press/ America: The new chairman of the UN General Assembly pointed to the global corona crisis and the lack of access to vaccines for some countries, adding that now is the time for the countries of the world to unite.
All the officials of the countries should give hope to their people and citizens," he said, adding that he would never lose hope in humanity on issues such as climate change and equitable access to vaccines.
The new President of the UN General Assembly also referred to the holding of the 76th General Assembly of the UN and said: "This Assembly is very important because it will be accompanied by three conferences on climate change, including biodiversity, deforestation, energy summit and the oceans."
"At the end of these conferences, he intends to ask countries to make a final political commitment to achieve the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reducing global temperatures by one and a half degrees," Abdullah Shahid said.
The 76th General Assembly of the United Nations begins today, September 14. The UN General Assembly will also meet for a week from September 21.
